New Studio in Washington DC & Baltimore area

For the past 6 months I have been hard at work custom designing a new studio space that would be absolutely perfect for us and our clients. The studio started as a big open area as it was a new construction so I was able to draw up my perfect space without limitations. The new studio is located in Gambrills, MD very conveniently located near most major routes including Rte 3, Rte 32, Rte 295, and Interstate 97 making it a central location between Washington DC, Baltimore and Annapolis. The studio will still be ‘by appointment only’, and we will be having fun events for toddlers and kids throughout the year.

The foyer is the first thing you see when you walk in, and it’s warm and inviting. The first thing you will notice from all of the adorable baby pictures in the front is that I love variety and color.

The meeting room in the front of the studio is where all client ordering sessions take place, as well as a great place for meetings and presentations. All of the keepsakes and books that are unique to our studio are displayed in the meeting room as well as throughout the studio so you can see just how amazing they are in both quality and beauty. Clients get to sit back and relax during ordering and view their images from a high definition projector onto an 80″ projector screen. The fireplace completes the homey feel. Clients love coming back to the studio to receive the custom touch in ordering without the hassle and questions that they have with ordering at home. Being able to build wall displays and see your prints in the actual size you will receive are also big bonuses.

The shooting area is absolutely perfect as it feeds my desire to have variety and color. There are 18 different backdrop choices provided with the 12 papers, 4 wall colors, and 2 sided barn wood boards. Two different flooring choices also create a nice variety between the dramatic images and the soft images. Having two shooting areas side by side adds efficiency during sessions being able to set up two different looks at a time with less hassle.

My goal during our session is to allow parents to have the best experience possible, especially during newborn sessions. Having 4 kids myself I know how tiring it can be right after you have a baby. This is why I use a trained newborn posing assistant for every newborn session so you can sit back and relax during our session and have an amazing experience watching your sweet little one sleep peacefully. Your session should not be work for you, and at our studio it won’t be! The couches and chairs are extremely comfortable, and it’s not uncommon for parents to take a nap during our session.

The changing area is perfect and convenient for parents with babies and toddlers. For an added convenience, anything you may have forgotten or need during our session for your baby will probably be stored here. From diapers, to wipes…lotion to diaper cream, and more.  It’s so easy to get side tracked and forget something on your way out of the house, which I know all too well!

The office is where all your images are sorted, edited, and prepared for ordering. This is my ‘home away from home’ so I’ve made sure to include many pictures of my kids and family as they are the highlight of my day. Organization is very  important in order to work efficiently, so I have created a workflow that works well for me so I can spend my time not working with my family. This space also allows me to separate work and home life, which was very important to me with this new studio. I have a strong desire to be present and available to my kids when I am home, and not thinking about work or doing ‘one last thing real quick’. With all of my work staying at the studio I can obtain the balance that I long for.

The play room was another ‘must have’ room when designing my studio. This room was designed with the toddler in mind so that when newborns come to see me their big brothers and sisters can play in the playroom and not be bored sitting on the couch in the sitting area. This keeps baby sleepier as we don’t have kids being loud, and also keeps parents and kids happy as they have something to do. The wi-fi TV has Netflix for Kids on it for kid friendly tv shows and movies, and there will soon be a DVD player as well for you to bring your kids’ favorite DVDs to watch if you’d like. The activity table is perfect for having lunch and snacks, as well as drawing on the paper roll attached.

The prop room is directly beside the shooting area giving me easy access to all of the blankets, props, hats and wraps that we will need. Organization was very important here so we could easily see what is available to create our beautiful setups. For those who have seen my old studio space know how huge of an improvement this is!

And of course, the bathroom! The bathroom (and entire studio) is handicapped accessible, and also provides anything moms may need during our session…including hair products to reduce stray hairs, single use toothbrushes, and more!

If you are interested in booking a session for your baby, children or family be sure to email me at info@tinytouchphotography.com to set up your session and learn more about the session process and how we custom create your works of art. I look forward to working with you!

Your studio is amazing!!! The colors and the details and how your used your space so efficiently. I live on a farm and my husband has generously given me a great big area in the machine shed to put my photography studio in. I have been searching for some ideas and layouts and haven’t had much luck. Until I saw some photos of your studio. My space will be long open space like yours. I was hoping you could share some room sizes with me and tell me about your paper back drops. I have heard of photographers using them and they seem very easy to use with kiddos. Would you rather have the vinyl ones or the paper back drops? Thank you so much for sharing your space and photography. It give others and myself a visual as to what maybe we can create for our own space. :)

I love your work! And I LOVE your studio. It looks amazing

[…] I have to say, 2013 was an amazing year, surpassing every goal that was set. It’s been a dream of mine to open up a retail studio to better serve my clients and move my studio outside of my home, so our main goal for 2013 was to find the perfect location to call home. We put a lease on a beautiful 1400 square foot space in Gambrills MD in February 2013 and it was opened in July 2013. I was able to custom design the layout and every detail of the space as it was a new construction, so it really is the perfect space for parents to sit back and relax while we photograph your precious baby. You can see pictures of the studio here. […]
